Set among majestic red rock boulders, the acoustics at this legendary outdoor venue are unparalleled – no wonder so many artists have recorded live albums there!
Though things weren’t always this smooth. On opening day of the venue, an unruly crowd and five-year ban against rock groups was enforced.
Getting There
Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado stands as an unparalleled concert venue. Situated among massive red boulders, this unique music destination makes for an unforgettable musical experience and destination.
Parking at Red Rocks is included with any ticket purchase, with lots opening two hours before concerts begin. To secure a space and take part in pre-show festivities without hassles or traffic issues, ensure you arrive early.
Red Rocks offers easy access to its venue from several parking lots; however, the upper lot fills quickly. Lower lots require some uphill walking but offer stunning views; or, hike the trails surrounding Red Rocks to work off calories while discovering its famous natural landscapes! Or join an experience-enhancing class like Yoga on the Rocks to maximize your visit.
Seating Options
Red Rocks provides wheelchair and concession options to guests with accessibility needs, including those who are deaf, blind, or require ASL interpretation services and assistive listening devices. If a guest requires these accommodations they should select seats 14-21 in Row 2 or 3. Those needing these devices or an interpreter should email the venue seven days in advance of a ticketed event ticket sale date to arrange this service.
Red Rock’s benches are constructed from top-of-the-line, old-growth clear heart redwood that has endured rain, snow and miles-high sunshine over decades – before being creatively repurposed as seating solutions. You may bring blankets but they must not extend beyond your seat.
Food and drinks can be purchased from concession stands, with alcohol strictly forbidden while factory sealed water bottles less than 32 ounces in size are accepted as long as they contain only water.
Preparing for a Concert
An unforgettable concert at Red Rocks will leave an indelible memory. By planning ahead and appreciating its unique atmosphere, your experience at this legendary venue can become even more engaging.
Arrive early if possible. Parking lots usually open two hours in advance of each event and tailgating is a popular activity before shows start. Plus, meeting other music lovers before entering an amphitheater is always fun!
Make sure you bring plenty of water and snacks. Red Rocks’ high altitude can quickly cause dehydration; experts advise drinking at least half your body weight in water per day prior to visiting Red Rocks to remain properly hydrated for optimal concert experience and a successful journey to your seat. Staying hydrated will also help ease any hikes during concerts!
