History
Red Rocks has seen its share of drama since opening its doors for The Beatles first US show in 1964 and U2’s career-making 1983 performance featured in Sunday Bloody Sunday, respectively. Since then, it has hosted some of music’s most celebrated acts while simultaneously learning how to control crowds and prevent alcohol bans, riots or outright rock music bans from occurring at its location.
The Park’s towering sandstone outcroppings have been formed over millions of years by geologic forces. Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps with Burnham Hoyt and Stanley Morse’s vision as its leaders, it remains both local and national treasure. Furthermore, it serves as one of the premier outdoor concert venues on Earth.
Getting There
Arrive two hours early to secure parking and enjoy tailgating, since parking is included in your ticket price and should be closer to the venue (upper lots vs lower lots). Parking lots nearer the venue should require less walking uphill.
If driving isn’t your cup of tea, there are numerous shuttle services near Red Rocks that offer pickup and drop-off locations. Shuttle services provide an ideal alternative for larger groups looking for an easier and more personalized experience; plus they make traveling stress free; providing private spaces to relax in while enjoying music performances!
Seating
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an exquisite venue, known for its natural acoustics and spectacular views. Concertgoers can select general admission seating or VIP boxes that provide between eight to thirty seats.
Hoyt’s assistant, Stanley E. Morse, worked to address issues associated with lighting, wind and sound during construction of the amphitheatre. His goal was to minimize manmade structures while protecting its surrounding natural landscape as much as possible.
Notable for its powerful acoustics and panoramic views, this venue features a diverse range of events. EDM fans often flock here with Dom Dolla, Deadmau5 and Above and Beyond performing. Food and drinks can be purchased from several concession stands throughout the park; picnickers may pack nonalcoholic beverages in factory sealed containers no larger than 32oz for use as part of a picnic lunch.

The amphitheatre walls consist of enormous sandstone formations that have been formed over time by repeated freeze-thaw cycles, creating slopes, tilts and cracks which give each formation its distinct form – such as Ship Rock which juts skyward or Creation Rock which leads towards the stage.
Concession stands located throughout the amphitheatre and Visitor Center offer a selection of food and beverages. Additionally, guests can dine at Ship Rock Grille inside of the Visitor Center.

Blankets are welcome but must not extend beyond the ticketed seating area and must be factory sealed and empty; alcohol and marijuana are forbidden, though many fans disregard this policy anyway.
Parking
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is located surrounded by trails that provide an active option to reach it. Uber and Lyft services may also be used, though to reach Red Rocks more quickly be dropped off at either Upper North or Lower South Lots for optimal drop off.
Parking at Red Rocks Amphitheatre opens two hours prior to show time and is completely free! If you don’t manage to snag one of the more desirable spots (north lot), other lots and even a road running directly up to the venue provide ample opportunities for meeting up after a show with friends.
