Norah Jones is an American singer-pianist. She hails from a musical family; her parents being Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar and Sue Jones as well as half-sister musician Anoushka Shankar (Anoushka Shankar attended Interlochen Arts Camp and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas Texas).

Her debut album was Come Away With Me, which reached number one in the US charts. Since then, she has released six studio albums and one holiday-themed one.

Geetali Norah Shankar Jones was born in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn to Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and American concert producer Sue Jones in 1979. She found early musical inspiration through both of their collections; first from her mother’s LP collection and oldies radio; later she studied jazz piano before joining the UNT Jazz Singers as part of her studies in music performance.
