Garth Brooks is one of America’s second best-selling solo albums artists in American history, having sold more than 148 million records worldwide – more than the Beatles or Elvis Presley! As one of country music’s premier artists, his famed sales figures and induction into various halls of fame including International Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Association Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame are testament to this fact. Additionally, Brooks has made significant charitable contributions including fundraising millions of dollars for US military forces, children’s hospitals and natural disaster relief initiatives – alongside numerous accolades that come his awards and hall of Fame recognitions.
Brooks was raised in Yukon, Oklahoma as Raymond and Colleen’s youngest child. Although his first trip to Nashville resulted in disappointment, in 1987 he returned and began working odd jobs while performing locally at local venues as well as singing demo tapes paid by other songwriters. Over time he amassed quite an impressive resume until eventually making it back to Bluebird Cafe – performing for an audience including one of those record label executives that had earlier turned him down before offering him a contract!
Brooks quickly rose to superstardom within two years, garnering Entertainer of the Year awards from both CMA and ACM awards shows and selling 16 million copies of No Fences album. Furthermore, “Friends in Low Places” became one of his signature tracks which ultimately garnered him Single of the Year recognition from both awards shows.
Brooks has become one of the world’s best-selling concert artists over his 40-year career, selling out stadium-sized arenas and breaking ticket sales records with each tour he and Trisha Yearwood completed together – most recently an astounding 390-show, 40-week world tour in 2017 that sold more than 6.3 million tickets, breaking previous tours by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones!
Brooks has enjoyed an extraordinary career that spans over two decades. Over that time, he has released 19 studio albums and achieved nine number one hits – earning multi-platinum status and breaking numerous records along the way. After recently concluding a world tour, Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk will open in Las Vegas soon after that.
The Black Friday Special will showcase an iconic musical figure through never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews, such as that with Brooks telling his life story for the first time alongside high-profile celebrities Billy Joel, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood. Fans will get to witness him perform live for the first time ever at his new venue for fans who purchased copies now from Bass Pro Shops (buyable before or watching on November 28 at 8 pm ET via CMT or streaming it via Amazon Music and the CMT App) For more information please visit CMT’s website or their social channels @BPS
